KASE strengthens ESG's role in the capital market

๐ฑ Yekaterina Andryushina, Managing Director for International Cooperation and Sustainable Development at Kazakhstan Stock Exchange (KASE), spoke at the "ESG, worker safety, and insurance risk mitigation" forum in Almaty. The forum was organized by LIC BCC Life JSC and NCE PARYZ.
The presentation covered the most pressing issues on KASE's ESG agenda: ESG disclosure requirements, impact of ESG disclosure quality on investor interest in an issuer's securities, the Exchange's plans to standardize disclosure of "S" indicators, and measures to stimulate foreign capital inflows into the ESG-focused insurance and financial sectors.
Particular emphasis was placed on improving the quality of ESG reporting, which affects a company's transparency, reputation and the trust of foreign and local institutional investors.
The application of standards such as GRI, SASB and IFRS S1/S2 makes disclosed information more understandable and comparable, and reduces information uncertainty and investor's analysis costs.
"For KASE, ESG is not a goal in itself, but an international transparency standard that helps build investor confidence and makes the Kazakhstan's capital market more understandable and comparable with global markets", noted Yekaterina Andryushina in her speech.
The benefits for ESG bonds in Kazakhstan were also highlighted. The Exchange provides listing fee exemptions to issuers of such issues, as well as related consulting support. Furthermore, it has reached agreements with international verification companies that evaluate issues of securities and confirm their compliance with ESG criteria.
๐ค KASE is consistently expanding its participation in international ESG initiatives. The Exchange is a member of the UN Sustainable Stock Exchanges initiative, the Net Zero Financial Services Providers Alliance (NZFSPA) and, since August 2026, a member of the UN Global Compact.
