KASE futures: infrastructure is ready, now it’s up to brokers

Idel Sabitov, Deputy Chairman of the KASE Clearing Centre's Management Board, discussed the prospects of the KASE's futures market at the 9th Conference Capital Markets Kazakhstan.
The Exchange's futures market is anchored by non-deliverable currency futures. Participants also have access to futures on the KASE Index and certain stocks. On October 5, 2026, the lineup was expanded to include cash-settled futures on EUR/KZT and CNY/KZT exchange rates.
The bulk of the futures market's turnover comes from USD/KZT futures. 38 participants have access to the sector, and quotations for currency futures are supported by two market makers: SQIF Capital JSC and Bank CenterCredit JSC.
The next step in the market's development involves making the product available to clients through brokers' applications.
"Whichever broker is the first to offer this product to clients on a mass scale will capture the pool of potential customers", noted Idel Sabitov.
The Exchange is prepared to collaborate with the brokers to promote futures to clients and remains open to ideas from market professionals regarding the market development.
According to the speaker, the tenge-to-dollar spot market is highly liquid, so futures on this exchange rate will eventually find their client base, which will subsequently drive demand for index futures and other products.
