Samruk-Energy reports record coal mining volume by Bogatyr Komir in 2018

/KASE, December 29, 2018/ – Samruk-Energy (Astana), whose bonds are officially listed on Kazakhstan Stock Exchange (KASE), has provided KASE with the press release dated December 29, 2018, which states as follows: quote The record volume of coal over the past 10 years has been mined and shipped from coalmines of “Bogatyr Komir” LLP in Ekibastuz. Miners has shipped circa 45 mln. tons of coal by the end of the year, which exceeds the production capacity of the enterprise (42 mln. tons). The annual plan - 41, 30 mln. tons - was already accomplished by them on December 5th. An increased coal consumption by Kazakhstan’s power systems, unplanned supplies for “SDPP Topar” LLP, Pavlodar CHP-2, 3 “PavlodarEnergo” JSC and an increase in coal shipments for household needs drove the increase in production and sales this year. Coal from Bogatyr Komir mines is used as fuel at power and thermal plants of Kazakhstan and Russia, as well as for household needs. Its main consumers are “Ekibastuz SDPP-1” LLP and Reftinsk SDPP, the share of shipments to which is more than 45%. “Samruk-Energy” JSC and the Russian UC “RusAl” manage “Bogatyr Komir” LLP on a parity basis. The company conducts open-pit coal mining at two open-pit mines, Bogatyr and Severny in Pavlodar region of Kazakhstan. The balance reserves of Bogatyr Komir LLP are 2,75 billion tons.
