/IRBIS, March 24, 00/ - REUTERS informs, that Kazakhstan Company
Kazahmys has extracted in 1999 32.6 million tons of copper ore and enters
in ten largest copper producers in the world. The president of the Company
Vladimir Kim has informed on Friday about it peaking at a meeting of
Mazhilis.
He considers that the audit results for 1999 should determine for the
company 8 or even 7 place among the world copper producers.
In 2000 Kazahmys plans to increase production by 1.3 million tons. In result,
the volume of copper in concentrate will reach 380.000 tons against 348.000
tons in the past year. In 1999 the enterprise has made 366.000 tons of blister
copper t and 361.000 tons pure copper. The forecasts for the current year
are 396.000 and 402.000 tons accordingly.
The joint-stock company Kazahmys includes former objects of the
Balhashmys company, Zhaskensky mining and processing enterprise,
Irtyshsky copper-smelting factory, East copper-chemical combine, fuel and
energy complex KarGRES-2, coal mines of joint-stock company Borly and
some thermal power stations.
Last year Kazahmys has produced more than 2 tons of gold, 412 tons of
silver, 6 millions tons of coal. For five years, from the South Korean company
Samsung has entered in the enterprise possessing by 40% of the shares, in
the fixed capital of Kazahmys was 317 million dollars were invested at the
expense of incomes and external sources.
