STATISTICS: Volume of deals in private issue securities at KASE in December - $9,703.1 thousand

/IRBIS, Jan.06, 00/ - In December 1999 on Kazakhstan stock exchange
(KASE) 32 deals were made totaling $9,703.1 thousand in private issue
securities (PIS). Compared to last month number of deals grew 1.6 times
(from 20), and volume of operations in terms of money - 18.2 times (from
$532.9 thousand).
Volume of operations in terms of securities amounted to 5,203,381 shares
against 86,813 shares last week.
The most liquid were common inscribed shares of OJSC "SHNOS"
(Shymkent, KASE official list of securities, category "A", trade code SYRG),
which account for 69.8% of the market.
Preferred shares of OJSC "KAZAKHTELECOM" (KZTKp, official list of
securities, category "A"), common and preferred inscribed shares of
OJSC "Corporation Kazakhmys" (KZMS and KZMSp, official list of
securities, category "B") were actively traded (18.0% of market turnover).
Total of 11 deals were made in PIS in December, whereas in November only 7.
13 trades out of 20 held were successful. Comparable figure for November is
10 out of 21.
Out of 32 deals (20 in November) 19 (18 in November) were made by the
brokers in Quotation system of KASE, which excludes automatic satisfaction
of the applications in counter auction mode (so called direct deals). Other 13
(2 in November) deals were made in main mode of Trade system of KASE
by a counter auction method.
