The Dow Jones structure was changed

/PRIME-TASS, Oct.27, 99/ - ITAR-TASS informs about changes in Dow
Jones index which reflect a structural changes in the USA economy. A list of
30 leading American corporations is determined by a Council of the Wall
Street Journal. On Tuesday the Council has included in the list 4 new
companies - Microsoft, Intel, SBC Communications and Home Depo.
Simultaneously Chevron, Union Carbide, Goodyear and Sears, Roebuck and
Co (a second-largest in USA system of retail stores) have lost their places in
this most prestigious corporate group of USA.
Now Dow Jones along with IBM and Hewlett-Packard will take into account
shares of Microsoft - worldwide leader in the software production and Intel -
the largest in the world producer of computer chips. It is a one more
confirmation that high-technological companies play more and more
significant role in the USA economy, while the traditional industrial sector
declines.
Taking into account, that the shares of the new companies are much more
dynamical, than traditional, the experts predict in the near future fast
grow of Dow Jones. On Tuesday it lost 47.80 points or 0.46% and was recorded
at the level of 10,302.13 points. At the same time traders warn: the high
ethnological companies are especially subject to the investors' whims and
the jumps can in short time be replaced by abrupt falls.
