/INTERFAX-KAZAKHSTAN, Pavlodar, March 03, 06/ - The first turn of producing of coke from shubarkol coal, which consists of 32 furnaces, was put in operation at Aksu ferroalloy plant (AFP, the branch of TNC Kazakhchrom, Pavlodar oblast, in the north), reported the correspondent of Interfax-Kazakhstan. As it is was informed in press service of the enterprise, the cause to undertake the project on producing coke on its own was difficulties with providing of carbonaceous regenerator - coke, which was delivered to AFP by enterprises of Russia and China till the present time. Particularly, noted in the press service of AFP, due to deficit of coke, formed last year, there happened meaningful increasing of price on the market that influenced on growing of cost price of ferroalloys. Relative to that, in order to satisfy the demand of the enterprise for regenerator of good quality and of little price, the decision was taken on organizing of the own producing from Kazakhstan coking coals and coals from Kuzbass coal field for rising of charge coking capacity and decreasing of sulfur consistence in coke. The project "Coke producing from shubarkol coal in floor furnace" was work out by Kazgiprotsvetmet LLP (Ustkamenogorsk). Coking process is made in floor furnace of periodical action. Similar furnaces are used successfully in China. In comparison to traditional coking method on camera furnaces, the given above method is more ecologically clean. According to information of the press service, the allocation square of cokes batteries is 9.72 ha. Construction of the second turn - extra 32 furnaces - will be completed in September of 2006. Payback term of capital investments totals 11 months. AFP was put in operation in 1968. 26 electric furnace of power from 21 to 63 mega-voltampere are running. Ferroalloys of AFP are used in producing process of alloyed steel types at metallurgic enterprises of Japan, USA, Europe and Russia. [2006-05-03]
