Kazatomprom increased production of uranium to 4,360 tons in 2005

/REUTERS, Almaty, Tatyana Seroshtanova, February 21, 06/ - State
company of Kazakhstan Kazatomprom increased production of uranium to
4,360 tons from 3,719 a year before, the company's press service informed
on Tuesday.
Kazakhstan possesses the second in the world after Australia uranium
reserves and wants to become key player in the market, where now
dominates Canadian and Australian firms.
Kazatomprom intends to increase production of uranium to 15,000 tones by
2010, spending for this $660 m.
The company extracts also within JV with French Areva, Canadian Cameco
with Japanese Sumitomo Corp and Kansai Electric Power Co.
