Nazarbayev's son-in-law left post of Vice president in Kazmunaigas

/REUTERS, Astana, October 22, 05/ - Timur Kulibayev, son-in-law of
Kazakhstan president Nursultan Nazarbayev, left post of the first vice
president of oil and gas state company Kazmunaigas, the company informed
on Saturday.
"Kulibayev decided to leave post of the first vice president, which he held
from the moment of the company's creation in February 2002", - the
company's message says.
Earlier on Saturday source in oil and gas sector informed Reuters, that the
president's son-in-law intends to be engage in private business.
"Today by the decree of Kazakhstan's government Alexander Pavlov is
appointed for the post of the company's first vice president", - Kazmunaigas
informed.
Pavlov, who worked in different time as vice president and finance minister
of Kazakhstan, till today was head of the board of directors of Narodnyi
(Halyk) bank . Besides, 52-year old politician is one of deputy
chairman of Otan party, headed by Nazarbayev.
Kulibayev, who is 39 years old, is married Nazarbayev's middle daughter
Dinara. Kazakhstan opposition affirms, that husband and wife are main
shareholders of Halyk bank. President Nazarbayev announced, that his
daughter is not engaged in business.
According to notes to audited financial statement of Halyk bank for 2004,
"senior employee of Kazmunaigas JSC is also holder of controlling block of
shares of Almex LLP, which is holder of controlling block of shares of the
bank".
Kulibayev himself did not comment opposition's opinion.
Some more Nazarbayev's relatives hold key posts in state structures. For
example, husband of his elder daughter Dariga, Rakhat Alieyv works as the
first deputy minister of foreign affairs, and president's nephew Kairat
Satypaldy this week was appointed as the first vice president of railroad
monopoly Kazakhstan Temir Zholy.
In December in Kazakhstan president elections will be held, where
Nazarbayev, running the country since 1989, intends to win one more seven-
year term.
