Kazatomprom JSC with support of akimat of Kyzymshek village Suzakski region
South-Kazakhstan oblast conducted public audition regarding planned economic
activity on Western and Central fields of Mynkuduk fields, site #4 of Inkai
field, site #2 of Budenovsk field.
In public audition participated representatives of state bodies of local
management, mass media information, non-governmental public organizations,
including representatives of Veterans council of Kyzymshek village, parental
committee of the village, Women council, political parties Otan, Asar and
Azamat, Village youth society, branch of republican public unit Atomic energy,
industry and adjacent sectors of the Republic of Kazakhstan workers trade unit,
community of the village and neighboring settlements, and also representatives
of NAC Kazatomprom JSC and affiliated with them structures.
The above uranium fields are situated in Shu-Sarysuisk uranium-ore province,
suitable by well-underground leaching, which is for today is the most
ecologically pure and profitable way to develop fields. Development of fields
implies detailed prospecting and drilling, afterwards construction of mines and
exploitation.
Launching of Central Mynkuduk mine is fixed for 2007 with fulfillment of
planned capacity in 2000 tons of uranium concentrate a year by 2010. Launching
of Western Mynkuduk is planned in 2008 with fulfillment of planned capacity
1000 tons of uranium concentrate a year by 2012. Launching of mine at site #4
of Inkai field is planned in 2007 with fulfillment of planned capacity in 2000
tons of uranium concentrate a year by 2010. Launching of mine at site #2 of
Budenovsk field is planned in 2008 with fulfillment of planned capacity 1000
tons of uranium concentrate a year by 2012.
Projects of uranium fields development are executed within elaborated strategy
of the company Kazatomprom for increase of uranium production to 15000 tons by
2010 and thus the company's first place in the world. Uranium reserves in
Kazakhstan are 1.500 m. tons.
Kazatomprom - national operator of Kazakhstan on export of uranium and other
materials of double application. 100% of the company's shares are owned by the
government represented by ministry of energy and mineral resources of the
Republic of Kazakhstan. Kazatomprom is a holding which controls six lines of
activities: geological exploration, uranium production, metallurgy, energy,
scientific support of the production and retraining of the staff, as well as
social assistance. As for the beginning of 2005, there have been over 19,000
employees working for the Company.
