ANALYSIS: In July of 2005 volume of deals in KASE's repo sector fell by 20.9% to KZT732.3 bn.
/IRBIS, Ranida Gabdeyeva, August 5, 05/ - In July of 2005 Kazakhstan stock exchange (KASE) recorded 3,052 deals in the repo transactions sector for a total of KZT732.3 bn. or USD5,397.9 m. at the current rate effective on deals making dates. This is 76.0% of total turnover of KASE in this month (in June of 2005 - 74.9%).
In comparison with June of 2005 volume of transactions has fallen by KZT193.1 bn. ($1,506.0 m.) or by 20.9% (by 21.8% in dollar terms). Relative to July of 2004 volume of transactions has grown by KZT243.0 bn. ($1,787.4 m.) or by 49.6% (by 49.5% in dollar terms).
Structure of repo market turnover on KASE in July was as follows:
- the stake of automatic repo transactions was 95.6% of the sector's turnover (KZT700.2 bn.), including deals in government securities (GS) - 93.1% (KZT681.9 bn.), deals in corporate securities (CS) - 2.5% (KZT18.3 bn.);
- the stake of repo transactions made by direct deals method, was 4.4% of the sector's turnover (KZT32.1 bn.), including deals in GS - 0.4% (KZT3.2 bn.), deals in CS - 3.9% (KZT28.9 bn.).
For comparison, structure of stock exchange's repo market in June of 2005 was as follows: autorepo - 96.8% (GS - 95.4%; CS - 1.4%); repo by direct method - 3.2% (GS - 0.7%; CS - 2.5%).
The tables below characterize KASE's repo sector in July of 2005 on opening transactions in tenge (stake of the market in headings of tables is given in accordance with the actual volume of transactions, including repo opening and closing deals).
