ANALYSIS: In March of 2005 volume of deals in KASE's repo sector fell by 14.1% to KZT537.1 bn
/IRBIS, Ranida Gabdeyeva, April 4, 05/ - In March of 2005 Kazakhstan stock exchange (KASE) recorded 2,825 deals in the repo transactions sector for a total of KZT537.1 bn. or USD4,110.5 m. at the current rate effective on deals making dates. This is 75.7% of total turnover of KASE in this month (in February 2005- 81.7%).
In comparison with February of 2005 volume of transactions has decreased by KZT88.4 bn. ($697.2 m.) or by 14.1% (by 14.5% in dollar terms). Relative to March of 2004 volume of transactions has increased by KZT177.5 bn. ($1,523.8 m.) or 49.4% (1.6 times in dollar terms).
Structure of repo market turnover at KASE in March was as follows:
- the stake of automatic repo transactions was 94.7% of the sector's turnover (KZT508.9 bn.), including deals in government securities (GS) - 93.3% (KZT500.9 bn.), deals in corporate securities (CS) - 1.5% (KZT8.0 bn.);
- the stake of repo transactions made by direct deals method, was 5.3% of the sector's turnover (KZT28.2 bn.), including deals in GS - 2.0% (KZT11.0 bn.), deals in CS - 3.2% (KZT17.2 bn.).
For comparison, structure of stock exchange's repo market in February of 2005 was characterized by the following indexes: autorepo - 97.2% (GS - 95.8%; CS - 1.4%); direct method repo - 2.8% (GS - 0.7%; CS - 2.1%).
The tables below characterize KASE's repo sector in March of 2005 on opening transactions in tenge (stake of the market in headings of tables is given in accordance with the actual volume of transactions, including repo opening and closing deals).
