President of NAC Kazatomprom will be given honor mark "Leader of Russian economics"

/IRBIS, Natalya Kuznetsova, February 25, 05/ - National atomic company KAZATOMPROM CJSC (NAC Kazatomprom, Almaty), whose bonds are traded in Kazakhstan stock exchange's (KASE) official "A" listing category, today spread press-release saying on February 25 of 2005 at 16:00 ceremony of ceremony of presentation of Honor mark "Leader of Russian economics" to Mukhtar Jakishev President of NAC Kazatomprom will be held in Moscow. The press-release says the mark has been instituted by organizational committee of International forum "International experience and Russia's economics", the staff of which comprises representatives of Administration of Russia's President, federal ministries and departments as well as outstanding scientists of Russian Academy of Sciences and leaders of the biggest economic higher education institutions of Russia. The honor mark is a five-point star made of yellow metal with enamel, with fascicles of golden rays drifting apart, on which there are brilliants framed with olive branches. Every year outstanding Russian state and social figures, heads of federal ministries and departments, biggest companies and organizations are rewarded with the honor mark outstanding deserts concerned with development of Russian economics. In different years the honor mark was given to A. Miller Chairman of Executive committee of Gasprom JSC, A. Chubays, Yu. Luzhkov etc. In this year head of Kazakhstan company will first be given the reward for contribution to Russian economics. The release says, Jakishev is the president of NAC Kazatomprom since the end of 1998. Under his direction, as a result of realization of strategies, NAC Kazatomprom successfully solved problems of atomic industry and realized several new large-scale projects on its consolidation on the world market. Today company's stake in satisfying the world demand is: - 8% for uranium (4th place in the world, in comparison with the 16th place in 1999); - 9% for beryl products (2nd place in the world, in comparison with 3% in 1999); - 8% for tantalum products (4th place in the world, in comparison with 0.4% in 1999). Annual turnover of NAC Kazatomprom with Russian companies is about USD22.5 m. At present NAC Kazatomprom supplies fuel pellets to Russia's atomic electric power stations; within the frameworks of Russian- Kazakhstan-Ukrainian joint venture (JV) the project on making nuclear fuel for atomic reactors of Ukraine is realized. Extraction of uranium is planned jointly with Russian partners within the frameworks of Zarechnoye JV in South-Kazakhstan region. Besides, NAC Kazatomprom supplies beryl products within the frameworks of BerylliUM JV and tantalum products to Russian condensate plants. By 2010 NAC Kazatomprom intends to output 15,000 tonnes of uranium a year that will let it become a leader on the world uranium industry. [2005-02-25]
