/REUTERS, Almaty, July 7, 04/ - Kazakhstan copper corporation Kazakhmys in
January-June of 2004 increased refined copper production to 212,089 tons from
203,200 tons in similar period of last year, the company informed.
In June the corporation produced 37,443 tons of refined copper.
In January-June the corporation issued commodity output for KZT82.124 bn.
(about $593 m. at the average rate of the period), that was more by 23.548 bn.
than in similar period of last year.

Corporation Kazakhmys, which produces up to 90% of total volume of
Kazakhstan copper and which is one of 10 world copper producers, exports the
half of its production to China, the other half to European countries.
Company's shareholders as of January 1 of 2003, according to Kazakhstan stock
exchange's data were South-Korean Samsung, which possessed 10.80% of
shares and its subsidiary Samsung Hong Kong Ltd. - 18.01%, Cuprum Holding
B.V. - 25.75% and Harper Finance Limited - 19.22%.
