Kazatomprom representative in the WNA board of management

/Kazakhstan today, March 15, 04/ - Rustem Tursunbayev, vice president of "Kazatomprom" NAC (National Atomic Company), has become a member of the board of management of London-based World Nuclear Association, an authoritative world nuclear power organisation. KZ-today correspondent has been advised about it by the press service of "Kazatomprom" NAC. The membership of "Kazatomprom" NAC representative in the board of management will allow it to participate in the decision making process of the organisation and the settlement of WNA policies and strategic objectives. R. Tursunbayev starts to perform his duties as from 1 April, 2004, at the same time continuing his work as "Kazatomprom" NAC vice president for marketing and sales. Apart from the "Kazatomprom" NAC representative the board includes one representative from each of the following companies: Electric de France (France), Synatom SA (Belgium), Exelon Generation LLC (USA), Framatome Advanced Nuclear Power (France), Mitsubishi Corporation (Japan), British Nuclear Fuels plc (UK). The press service has observed that the association assists the peaceful usage of nuclear power as a reliable energy source of the future, deals with nuclear power production issues and all aspects of nuclear fuel cycle including the fuel extraction, conversion, enrichment, and fabrication, the construction of nuclear power stations, the transportation and safe burial of nuclear fuel. The World Nuclear Association organises co-operation on technical, commercial, and political issues between its members and assists wider public understanding of nuclear technologies. The World Nuclear Association members are companies producing approximately 90% of world atomic power (USA excluded) and 90% of uranium world extraction, conversion, and enrichment. The association members represent countries, in which 80% of the world population live. "Kazatomprom" NAC is an active member of the World Nuclear Association since 1997. [2004-03-15]
