/Kazakhstan today, March 10, 04/ - Total calculated own capital of the bank sector of Kazakhstan increased by 1.08% and made 243.4 bn. tenge in February 2004. Bank totals assets increased by 3.54% up to 1 707.2 bn. tenge. It was reported today on 10 March at a press conference in Almaty by the deputy chairman of the Agency for financial market and financial organizations regulation and supervision of RK Elena Bakhmutova. According to E. Bakhmutova, the level of bank capitalization reduced and adequacy indexes made c1 - 0.10; c2 - 0.17. The quality of a loan portfolio as of 1 March 2004 remains the same, E. Bakhmutova said. In particular, the share of the standard loans made 62.2%, doubtful - 36.4%, loss - 2.4%. As of 1 February 2004 the share of the standards loans made 61.5%, doubtful - 35,4%, loss - 2,1%. As of 1 March 2004, 35 banks of a second level are operating in Kazakhstan, including 2 State banks (EX-IM Bank of Kazakhstan and Housing Accumulative Bank of Kazakhstan), 16 banks with foreign participations (including 10 subsidiaries) and Development Bank of Kazakhstan.
