The volume of trades in government securities in March amounted to 461.3 billion tenge ($1.0 billion)
/KASE, April 11, 2023/ – Kazakhstan Stock Exchange (KASE) presents the results of trading in government securities for March 2023.
In the primary market in March, 109 deals were made for a total of 345.1 billion tenge ($767.1 million):
In terms of the main categories of investors in the primary market, banks accounted for 37.6%, brokers – for 0.9%, other institutional investors – for 39.4%, and other legal entities – for 22.0%. Non-residents did not participate in the primary GS market.

In terms of the main categories of investors in the secondary market of government securities of the Republic of Kazakhstan, excluding foreign government securities, the share of banks was 35.1%, the share of broker- dealers – 7.7%, the share of other institutional investors – 5.4%, for the share of other legal entities – 51.7%, for the share of individuals – 0.1%. Participation of non-residents is estimated at 4.4%.
As a result of March, the yield indices for government securities slightly decreased for terms of up to 1 year and from 1 to 5 years. The yield index on the segment with a maturity of more than five years increased by 38 b.p. over the reporting month.
