---------------------------------------------------------------------------
During the first half of the year, the local stock market was characterized by
high volatility due to a number of external and internal factors. The first
signal of a trend change came at the end of last year, when the leading central
banks announced the transition to a cycle of raising rates and reducing balance
sheets. In January-February, geopolitical and economic risks increased, to
which KASE Index reacted by decreasing from historical highs reached at the
end of last year. In March, index companies published annual reports, which
allowed them to change the trend of declining stock indicators. At the same
time, in April-May, some Kazakhstani companies announced decisions to
postpone the payment of dividends.
In June, the dividend season took place. KazTransOil JSC and KEGOC JSC
have paid the dividends approved earlier. JSC "Eco Center Bank" (DB JSC "Bank
CenterCredit") announced on June 10 the payment of dividends on common
shares for 2019-2021 in the total amount of 50.0 billion tenge or 91.17 tenge
per common share. On June 27, JSC NC KazMunayGas paid dividends on
common shares for 2021 totaling 200 billion tenge.
Index basket companies also completed the publication of quarterly reports in
June. Compared to the first quarter of last year, the net profit of Bank
CenterCredit JSC increased from 2.6 to 11.3 billion tenge, Halyk Group – from
96.8 to 124.2 billion tenge, Kaspi.kz – from 74.7 to 102.7 billion tenge,
Kazakhtelecom Group, including Kcell JSC – from 24.9 to 29.2 billion tenge.
Against the background of continuing interest in nuclear energy and rising
prices for uranium futures, the net profit of JSC NAC Kazatomprom for the first
quarter increased to 62.1 billion tenge compared to 6.0 billion tenge for the
same period last year. The decrease in the level of net profit in the first
quarter, as well as at the end of the year, was recorded by KEGOC JSC – from
13.4 to 8.5 billion tenge and KazTransOil JSC – from 16.7 to 10.2 billion
tenge.
On June 23, 2022, S&P Global Ratings confirmed the long-term and short-term
credit ratings of Freedom Holding Corp. and JSC "Freedom Finance" at the "B-
/B" level. On June 27, Fitch Ratings confirmed the issuer's long-term default
rating JSC "KazTransOil" in foreign currency at the level of "BBB-", the
forecast is "Stable".
In general, the successful dividend season, good quarterly reports of
companies and confirmation of stability by international rating agencies allowed
KASE Index to end the month with nine consecutive growth sessions. KASE
index closed 0.5% higher at 2,674.72 points.
