Oil extraction in the world rose in August of 2003 by 798,000 barrels in 24 hours - IEA

/REUTERS, London, September 10, 03/ - OPEC's countries increased oil extraction in August of 2003 by 415,000 barrels in 24 hours, at that, production of oil in the post-war Iraq was 390,000 barrels in 24 hours, informed International energy agency (IEA) on Wednesday.

The general world extraction of oil rose in August by 798,000 barrels in August to 79.69 m. barrels in 24 hours. Growth of deliveries from Kazakhstan and Russia caused growth of general production of oil in August in the countries, which are not included in OPEC, by 289,000 barrels in 24 hours.

In year-on-year calculation oil extracting by the countries, which are not members of OPEC, rose in August by 1.59 m. barrels in 24 hours, and in the countries of former USSR it grew by 946,000 barrels in 24 hours.

At that, OPEC's countries, excluding Iraq, exceeded the confirmed by the organization total level of deliveries at the rate of 25.5 m. barrels in 24 hours by 50,000 barrels, says the IEA's monthly review of the oil market.

"Venezuela and Indonesia produced much less oil than their quotas allowed them, however Algeria and especially Saudi Arabia, approximately, significantly exceeded their quotas", - says the agency's review.

Production of oil in Iraq rose in August up to 1.05 m. barrels in 24 hours, in comparison with 660,000 barrels in July. Before the war Iraq produced 2.8 m. barrels of crude oil in 24 hours.

Saudi Arabia reduced production of oil by 50,000 barrels in 24 hours to 8.63 m. barrels in 24 hours that exceeded OPEC's quota, which was set for it, by 370.000 barrels in 24 hours.
