In August of 2003 volume of deals in KASE's repo sector decreased by 9.2% to KZT300.9 bn
/IRBIS, September 2, 03/ - In August of 2003 at Kazakhstan stock exchange (KASE) in repo-transactions sector there were registered 2,480 deals to the total amount of KZT300.9 bn or USD2,050.4 m at the current rate on deals making date, that is 55.8% of the whole August's turnover. In comparison with July of 2003 volume of transactions decreased by KZT30.5 bn ($205.3 m) or by 9.2% (by 9.1% in terms of dollar).
Relative to August of 2002 volume of transactions increased by KZT94.0 bn ($709.6 m) or by 45.4% (by 52.9% in temrs of dollar).
Structure of repo market's turnover at KASE in August, which was calculated in tenge equivalent, was as follows:
- the stake of automatic repo transactions was 89.4% of the sector's turnover (KZT269.1 bn), including deals in Government securities (GS) - 89.7% (KZT269.9 bn), deals in corporate securities (CS) - 0.3% (KZT773,2 m);
- the stake of repo transactions, which were made by direct deals method, was 10.1% of the sector's turnover (KZT30.3 bn), including deals in GS - 9.1% (KZT27.4 bn), deals in CS - 0.9% (KZT2,809.6 m).
For comparison, structure of stock exchange's repo market in 2002 was characterized by the following indexes: autorepo - 83.03% (GS - 83.01%;
CS - 0.02%); repo by direct method - 16.97% (GS - 16.09%; CS - 0.88%).
