In June of 2003 volume of deals in KASE's repo sector grew by 14.1% to KZT261.5 bn
/IRBIS, July 3, 03/ - In June of 2003 at Kazakhstan stock exchange (KASE) in repo-transactions sector there were registered 2,028 deals to the total amount of KZT261.5 bn or USD1,757.0 m at the current rate on deals making date.
In comparison with May of 2003 volume of transactions increased by KZT32.3 bn ($238.8 m) or by 14.1% (by 15.7% in terms of dollar). Relative to June of 2002 volume of transactions increased by KZT61.4 bn ($450.2 m) or by 30.7% (by 34.4% in temrs of dollar).
Structure of repo market's turnover at KASE in June, which was calculated in tenge equivalent, was the following way:
- the stake of automatic repo transactions was 91.1% of the sector's turnover (KZT238.3 bn), including deals in Government securities (GS) - 90.6% (KZT237.1 bn), deals in corporate securities (CS) - 0.5% (KZT1,240.3 m);
- the stake of repo transactions, which were made by direct deals method, was 8.9% of the sector's turnover (KZT23.2 bn), including deals in GS - 7.4% (KZT19.4 bn), deals in CS - 1.5% (KZT3,821.2 m).
For comparison, structure of stock exchange's repo market in 2002 was characterized by the following indexes: autorepo - 83.03% (GS - 83.01%;
CS - 0.02%); repo by direct method - 16.97% (GS - 16.09%; CS - 0.88%).
