/Kazakhstan today, February 24, 03/ - According to results of 2002 Kazakhstan
enterprises within the framework of import substitution program sold goods and
services for KZT107.1 bn that is more by 46.5% than in 2001. this figure was
called during the work of the republican conference on import substitution on
February 24 in Almaty, which had been organized by Kazakhstan Ministry of
industry and trade (MIT). Due to the program there were created 15.8 th. new
workplaces at 184 enterprises, at 24 enterprises there were introduced
international system of quality control ISO.
As was informed before, whereas there was general production growth in
Kazakhstan in 2002 there was decrease of industrial production by 2%. One of
the main reasons of the falling, as representatives of MIT informed, is ending
of investment project at KIO and, as the result, decrease of purchases of
industrial production. On the other hand number of representatives -importers
decreased volumes of agreements referring to high price and low quality of
Kazakhstan production.
Representatives of a number of Kazakhstan engineering enterprises, from their
part, expressed their dissatisfaction that large companies-importers are closed
and inaccessibility of information about their activity that does not let
producers plan their activity.
According to the information of MIT, major task of the conference is
coordination of import substitution policy with conception of Kazakhstan
industrial development, which is being developed, working out of offers on
realization of conceptions and industrial policy and import substitution
policy, increasing of the stake of Kazakhstan production and services in the
volume of companies- importers purchases.
26 largest companies-importers take place in the conference, including KEGOC,
Kazakhstan temir zholy, Kazakhtelecom OJSC, Ispat-Karmet, Aluminium of
Kazakhstan OJSC, KIO and other, and also 303 Kazakhstan enterprises, which
are suppliers of production and services. The work of the conference will be
finished on February 26.
