National Bank of Kazakhstan has characterized the Republic's banking sector as of October 1 of 2002

//IRBIS, November 7, 02/ - National Bank of Kazakhstan, in its press- release, which was devoted to the current market situation, has briefly characterized the Republic's banking sector as of October of 2002. According to the opinion, which is expressed in the press-release, situation in this sector, as well as in previous months, remains stable. As of October 1 there were 38 functioning banks, which had license of the National Bank of Kazakhstan for conducting banking and other operations, including, Governmental - 2, with foreign participation (including daughter banks of banks-non-residents of the Republic of Kazakhstan) - 16. In September of 2002 there were the following changes of indicators, which characterize banking sector's condition (excluding Development Bank of Kazakhstan CJSC and Eximbank of Kazakhstan CJSC). Total shareholders' equity, which was calculated in accordance with the Rules about prudential norms, which had been confirmed by the resolution of the Council of NBRK dated June 3, 01, rose by 5.4% to KZT994.4bn, whereas liabilities - by 5.8% to KZT871.1 bn. According to the National Bank's data, net income of banks for January- September of 2002 equaled to KZT14.3 bn. [2002-11-07]
