Samruk-Energy develops renewable energy sources in Kazakhstan
/KASE, March 26, 2019/ – Samruk-Energy (Astana), whose bonds are officially listed on Kazakhstan Stock Exchange (KASE), has provided KASE with the following press release of March 19, 2019:

5 renewable energy sources (RES) were commissioned in Kazakhstan in January this year as mentioned in "Samruk-Energy" JSC analytical report on electricity and coal market of Kazakhstan for January 2019. This refers to wind power plants (WPP) Kerbulak 1 - 4.5 MW and Kerbulak 2 WPP - 4.5 MW in Almaty region; solar power plants (SPP) "Gulshat" KPM Delta - 40 MW in Karaganda region; Vetroenerotechnologi WPP - 52.8 MW in Mangystau region; Biogas plant of "Kurma" farming company - 1.3 MW in Karaganda region.
The number of operating RE facilities in the republic amounted to 72 with a total capacity of 634 MW (HPP – 200, 25 MW; WPP – 183, 25 MW; SPP - 249 MW; biogas plant – 1, 65 MW).
In January 2019, electricity generated by "Samruk-Energy" JSC RE facilities (small hydropower plants, wind farms, thermal power plants) amounted to 26 mln. kWh or 27, 5% of the total electricity generated by renewable energy facilities.
In general, according to the System Operator, Kazakhstani power plants produced 9 944, 4 mln. kWh of electricity in January 2019. In January 2019, as compared with the same period of 2018, electricity production grew significantly (an increase of 20% or more) in Turkestan region. At the same time, electricity production (over 5%) decreased in Almaty, Zhambyl, Kostanay and Pavlodar regions.
