Government of the Ukraine approved the project about creating of JE on nuclear fuel production jointly with Russia and Kazakhstan

/Interfax-Ukraine, August 22, 02/ - The Ministry of the Ukraine approved the
project with the Government of Russia about contribution in development
and activity of "Joint Ukrainian-Kazakhstan-Russian enterprise on nuclear
fuel production" CJSC.
This has been determined by the decree of the Government dated August
17. The Government authorized the Minister of fuel and energy Vitaliy
Gayduk in signing up the document. "Joint Ukrainian-Kazakhstan-Russian
enterprise on nuclear fuel production" CJSC, founders of which are
Ukrainian State property fund, Russian TVEL OJSC and Kazatomprom, and
who have equal shares, was registered on October 29 of 2001 with
authorized capital of $450m.
It is supposed that the CKSC on the first level will only coordinate the work
of enterprises, which it possesses, and will become the full joint-stock
company by 2005. Regarding the Ukraine, two enterprises of Dnepropetrovsk
oblast will be a part of it - "Tsirkoniy" (Dneprodzerdzhinsk of Dnepropetrovsk
oblast) and partially East ore mining and processing enterprise (EOMPE, Yellow
waters of Dnepropetrovsk oblast).
Russia will take part in technological cycle making uranium cleaning and
making fuel rod array in Novosibirsk (RF) or Electrostal (Moscow oblast).
Production of uranium pellets will be conducted by Kazakhstan Ulbinskiy
metallurgical works (biggest producer of nuclear fuel for APP in CIS, which is
a part of the State enterprise "Kazatomprom").
Project of creation of Ukrainian-Kazakhstan-Russian JE on nuclear fuel
production has been approved in 1996 after the victory of Russian TVEL
JSC in corresponding competition in the Ukraine.
