Kazatomprom and TVEL OJSC signed memorandum on creation of JV for development of uranium fields in RK

/Kazakhstan today, July 16, 02/ - NAC Kazatomprom and TVEL OJSC of the Ministry of atomic industry of Russia, as a result of the international conference "Topical problems of uranium industry", held in Almaty, signed a memorandum on cooperation, which implies a creation of joint venture for development of uranium fields on the territory of Kazakhstan. NAC Kazatomprom informed it to Kz-Today. According to memorandum, to September 2002 NAC Kazatomprom has to provide TVEL Company a set of documents for choosing a field for potential development. The program of the field joint analysis and developing will be created to the 1st of November. To January 1, 2003 the sides have to make a decision on JV creation of TVEL and Kazatomprom. The aim of the present memorandum is a realization of intergovernmental agreement between RF and RK on integration of organizations of nuclear fuel cycle of two countries. Also, according to the memorandum, specialists of two companies will consider topics of radioactive waste treatment in Kazakhstan and legal provision of the mentioned activity, including the activity on treatment of low- and high-active waste and nuclear fuel waste.
