KazTransOil CJSC not intended to refuse Arthur Andersen services in spite of scandal over ENRON auditing

/IRBIS, Feb 12, 02/ - Despite of international scandal over the auditing of the
American energy giant ENRON by Arthur Andersen, KazTransOil CJSC
(Astana) does not intend to refuse the services offered by this company in
this year, is said in the message distributed by PR service of KazTransOil
CJSC today.
It is said that by stating this KazTransOil CJSC is moving towards its partner
with whom it had business since 1998. Kazakhstani branch of Arthur
Andersen has audited 3 annual reports of KazTransOil CJSC.
The agreement on continuing the cooperation was achieved on February 12,
2002 between the general director of KazTransOil CJSC, Abai Sadykov and
top managers of Arthur Andersen: managing director in CIS, Hans Johan
Horn and managing director in Central Asia, Doug Gardner.
Explaining the situation with ENRON, Mr. Horn has positioned the actions
taken by Arthur Andersen, stating that the major policy of the company is the
transparency.
Finally, the companies expressed mutual satisfaction with the cooperation
results and agreed on further close relations, is said.
