UKOS bought 77.5% in Fiodorovskii field in Kazakhstan

/IRBIS, Jan 22, 02/ - REUTERS informs that UKOS OJSC bought 77.5% of
shares in Fiodorovskii field near Karachaganak in central part of northern
Kazakhstan from First International Oil Corporation of Houston (Texas,
USA).
It is said that UKOS will become an operator of this field in 2002 and
therefore, conducts seismic surveys and drills first wells next year.
The location of the field is considered to be beneficial for UKOS, since it is
near Samara, where the company has most of its business and there are
well developed transportation infrastructure and oil processing capacities.
Its former owner, First International Oil Corporation of Houston, bought the
field in 2000 and discovered a rich deposits of hydrocarbons, is said.
