/IRBIS, Nov 05, 01/ - In year 2001 Kazakhstan based on decision of the
International council executive committee became one of six largest
countries-exporters of grain with Australia, Argentine, Canada and EU. It was
said at press - conference in Astana devoted to 80th anniversary of food
system of the country by Nurlan Smagulov, the President of Food contract
corporation CJSC.
He also said that this year new strategic market of Kazakhstan grain in south
direction will be Iran, where Food contract corporation is going to supply 100
thousand tons of food grain, 30 thousand tons of which were already
transported.
According to Mr. Smagulov, in a whole this year Kazakhstan is going to
supply more than 1bn tons of grain to Iran, at the same time he noted that
Russia and Uzbekistan remain traditional markets of Kazakhstan grain.
Despite high harvest of grain in Russia, this country still suffers from the
lack of high quality grain. That is why Kazakhstan will remain major supplier
of high quality grain to Russia. We have already made beneficial contracts with
Moskow government, said Mr. Smagulov. Total number of demanding
markets of Food corporation has reached 20 with the inclusion of Iran.
