Oil production in Tengiz (Kazakhstan) to reach 19m tons by 2005
/IRBIS, June 20, 01/ - The GSRW informs, with the reference to general director of Tengizchevroil, that oil production in the Tengiz field will rise from 12m tones of oil to 19m tones by 2005. The company is conducting a feasibility study of this $2bn project. He said a part of the funds will be used for a project of injecting gas back into the formation. This will make it possible to reduce the amount of flare gas despite the increasing oil production. Specialists of Tengizchevroil assure the flare gas amount will shrink by 95% with oil production increasing to 19m tones. Previously, when the company produced 12 million tones of oil, it discharged 65,000 to 85,000 tones of wastes to the air.
