In November volume of deals in securities reached $31.6 mln in all sectors; for current year - $125.9 mln
/IRBIS, Dec.1, 00/ - In November 2000 at the Kazakhstan Stock Exchange (KASE) 71 deals in securities were made in all sectors of the market for a total of $31,582.0 th., or KZT4,545.7 mln at current rate of the Exchange effective on the day the deals were made on.

Comments: In 1999 the volumes of securities operations at KASE were equal to $21,603.2 th. IRBIS specialists warn that hidden repo deals can be made at the securities purchase and sale sector of the KASE, therefore the volumes of deals shown for this segment of the market can include the volumes of such deals.
The table shows that the volume that was reached in November is a record high both in terms of the sectors' totals and as a whole. Besides, this figure is a record high for the monthly volumes of the deals in securities at the KASE since the beginning of the trades in these securities.
In purchase and sale sector the trades in 17 instruments were successful. The most liquid were common shares of Halyk Bank of Kazakhstan OJSC (KZ1C33870410; official list of the KASE securities, category "A", HSBK) which controlled 46.5% of all the deal volumes in the sector. Then, there were common inscribed shares of Bank TuranAlem OJSC (KZ1C34920412;
official list of the KASE securities, category "A", BTAS) - 33.0% of the turnover. It was due to these securities that the record high turnover was reached in November. Particularly, on the last day of the month a block of Halyk Bank of Kazakhstan OJSC (Almaty) shares were sold for a total of $10.6 mln at the KASE. These transactions were likely to be related to the floatation of the fifth issue of the bank shares, registered with the National Securities Commission of Kazakhstan on November 16, 2000 under the number A3387-4 (18,075,333 shares with KZT100 face value each, NIN KZ1C33870410). The trades in Bank TuranAlem OJSC (Almaty) shares played a part at the end of the month. But, as the IRBIS analysts assume, most of the deals in these securities made in purchase and sales sector were hidden repo deals, though they were made in main trade mode of the KASE trade system.
17 deals out of 63 concluded deals were made by the brokers in the Quotation system of the KASE, which eliminates automatic satisfaction of the bids in counter auction mode (so-called direct deals that are made by the operators upon agreements, and not the result of the trades on the market). Remaining 46 deals was made in main mode of the KASE trade system by using a counter auction mode.
In securities repo sector in November:
- $5,964.4 th. worth of repos were opened:
- in shares of Bank TuranAlem OJSC (30 days, 2.89% APR, USD);
- in shares of Bank TuranAlem OJSC (30 days, 3.84% APR, USD);
- in shares of TEMIRBANK OJSC (29 days, 11.38% APR, USD);
- in shares of Voskhod OJSC (28 days, 14.88% APR, USD).
- $2,868.7 th. worth of repos were closed:
- in shares of Bank TuranAlem OJSC (30 days, $2,459.8 th. amount raised - $2,453.8 th. 2.80% APR, USD);
- in shares of Bank CenterCredit OJSC (260 days, $408,829.64, amount raised - $371,663.31, 14.00% APR, USD).

Comments: The KASE index reflects the changes in the bids on the shares from the official list of the Exchange's securities of the category "A", including the market capitalization of their issuers. The capitalization of the bond market - indicator that reflects the volume of corporate debt circulating on the KASE as the bonds of the companies. It is calculated on the basis of the number of issued bonds and the bonds admitted to the trades and their market values. In case of the absence of the last figure, face value is used instead. It is fixed daily from Nov.20,00. The capitalization of the share market - indicator that reflects the market capitalization of the companies whose shares were entered into all the lists of the KASE securities. It is calculated on the basis of the number of issued shares and their last market values. In case of the absence of the deals the face values of the securities, expressed in U.S. dollars (if necessary) at the rate of the Exchange for the current day, are used.
