Aliuminii Kazakhstana increased limestone production in first quarter of 2000 by 5.9%

/IRBIS, May 5, 00/ - REUTERS informs, with the reference to general
director of OJSC, Leonid Belogrivyi, that OJSC Aliuminii Kazakhstana
increased limestone production in first quarter of 2000 by 5.9%, up to 229.3
th. tons relative to similar period of last year.
General director said the production increase had been due to an increase in
demand for their products from the buyers.
He also said the growth in demand for limestone has caused the production
of bauxite to grow, which reached 779.7 th. tons at Krasnooktyabrskii and
Turgaiskii mines in the first quarter of 2000, or 115.4% to last year's level.
General director of the company said the production increase was possible
due to a renewal of mining equipment for an amount of $4,073.1 th. during
the last period.
He said investments of the company's own funds into fixed capital of the
company has reached KZT432.5 mln, which is by KZT305.2 mln more than
in comparable period of last year.
The number of employees of OJSC Aliuminii Kazakhstana is 10,365, that is
by 3.8% more than in similar period of last year, 376 people addition.
Average wage is KZT24,628, that is by 27.5% more than average of last
year.
