STATISTICS: Week volume of USD transactions on KASE - $34.110 million

/IRBIS, April 3, 00/ - Within the fourteenth calendar week of 2000 (March 27 -
31) on the Kazakhstan stock exchange (KASE) trades in US dollar, deutsche
mark and euro with TOD, TOM and SPOT accounts have been conducted in
the foreign currency sector.
Three sessions were conducted daily: morning (main, USD_TOD,
DEM_TOD, EUR_TOD), day (additional, USD_TOD, DEM_TOD,
EUR_TOD) and evening (USD_TOM, USD_SPOT, DEM_TOM, EUR_TOM).
US dollar: (parenthetically the previous week parameters are shown): 452
(411) transactions totaling $34.100 million ($22.075 million) were made at
average session volume of $6,820 ($5,519), including:
- 451 (409) deals to the sum of $33,900,000 ($21.675.000) with TOD terms;
- 1 (1) deal to the sum of $200,000 ($200,000) with SPOT terms.
Tenge devaluation, calculated at the average weighted exchange rate on
March 31 (for the morning sessions only), is evaluated by:
- one-week trend of 7.8% p.a. (2.2%);
- one-months trend - 12.6% p.a. (15.0%);
- from the current year beginning - 10.8% p.a. (11.1%).
Deutsche mark: no deals were made.
Euro: 1 (4) deal was made to the sum of 10,000 (50,000) euro. Transaction
was made under the TOD accounts on the main session. Compared to euro
the average rate of tenge devaluation was 36.1%.
In total week volume the foreign currency deals on the Exchange equal to
$34.110 million ($.22.100 million) or 4,927.8 million tenge (3,129.5 million).
The day average is $6,821 million ($5,525.0 million).
On the interbank market from March 17 till March 29 (the later data are
absent) daytime volume of deals in US dollar between banks - residents of
Kazakhstan varied from $8,448,000 to $13,720,000.
