In January–August 2014 volume of foreign currency trade on KASE increased 1.7 times and made up KZT19.4 trln ($109.3 bn)
/KASE, September 3, 14/ – In the period January–August 2014 the volume of foreign currencies trading on Kazakhstan Stock Exchange (KASE), including currency swap transactions, made up KZT19,426.3 bn (equivalent of USD109,349.8 mln) and increased 1.7 times against the same period of 2013 (1.5 times in dollar terms).
In comparison with the previous eight month period (May–December 2013) the trades volume increased by 40.9 % (by 21.3 % in dollar terms).

The weighted average rate of the tenge to US dollar, calculated on all deals of the main (morning) trading session on KASE in the period from January 3, 14 to August 31, 14, made up KZT182.02 per US dollar, on all exchange-based deals – KZT182.02 per US dollar.
The tenge devalued against the US dollar on a weighted average exchange rate of 27.24 % per annum in the current year. In the initial eight months of 2014 the devaluation rate of the tenge to the US dollar in nominal value made up 18.14 %.
In 2013 the devaluation rate of the tenge to US dollar in nominal terms made up 1.58 %.
In 2012 the revaluation rate of the tenge to US dollar in nominal terms made up 0.61 %.
