/PRIME TASS, March 15, 00/ - According to the Financial Times, the
General Secretary of OPEK has stated recently, that OPEC should resist to
call-ups to increase production of petroleum sharply.
R. Lukman does not consider that the present petroleum prices are too high
and doubts that they can provoke inflation in the industrially advanced
countries. He believes that these countries, first of all, should improve the
tax systems.
OPEK prefers the stable, without sharp prices jumps world petroleum
market, that is profitable for the petroleum exporters as well as for the
consumers, - he said.
R. Lukman has expressed a hope that OPEC countries and other oil
exporting countries will manage to reach the agreement and has indicated
that in opinion of many market participants, the $25 a barrel price level is
suitable.
