/IRBIS, March 15, 00/ - REUTERS informs, with the reference to the vice
minister of energy, industry and trade Kanat Buzumbaev, that one of the
biggest oil producers of Kazakhstan - Mangistaumunaigas (MMG) - will
extract 4 mln tons of oil in year 2000 and export about 2 tons of oil to
foreign countries.
Vice minister said half of total 4 mln tons of oil would be exported to non-CIS
countries according to quota.
He said the company had the biggest export quota among all oil companies
in Kazakhstan and it did not need any increase in the quota.
The agency informs that Kazakhstan exports its oil through Russian
pipelines where many local exporting companies have their own transfer
quotas.
The management of MMG complains at serious losses incurred by the
supplies of oil into domestic market, to Pavlodar refinery (PNPZ).
One of the managers Rashid Sarsenov said they were the only supporters of
life at PNPZ.
He said MMG had supplied PNPZ with 700 th. tons of oil last year though it
was possible to supply 1 mln tons, but it did not because the refinery had
$73 mln unsettled debt to MMG.
