Additional session of KASE closed at KZT141.30/40 per dollar

/IRBIS, March 14, 00/ - At Kazakhstan stock exchange (KASE) additional (day) trades in U.S. dollars, Deutsche marks and euros with TOD terms were held. 7 banks participated in the trades. In U.S. dollars 4 deals were made during the trade for a total of $650 th. within KZT141.30 - 141.32 per dollar interval. At closing of the session (3:30PM) dollar was at KZT141.30/40 per unit. At 3:30PM in trades in dollars on TOM and SPOT terms no deals were made. For USD TOM offer equaled KZT141.43 per unit, no demand. On SPOT terms dollar was not quoted. At 3:30PM on interbank currency market indicative dollar quotations were at KZT141.33/39 per dollar in REUTERS information system. Based on the results of Kazakhstani currency dealers poll which was held by REUTERS journalists today, tenge is firming on the background of deficit of national currency on the market. High growth rate of the dollar exchange rate in last three weeks caused the market to "overheat", and some banks began to sell dollars to restore their short term liquidity, since the deposits are very expensive.
