In 2000 foreign companies plan to involve in oil and gas branch of Atyrau oblast of Kazakhstan more than 5,000 new foreign experts

/IRBIS, March 09, 00/ - As an aware source in Astana has informed PRIME
TASS on Thursday, in 2000 foreign oil and gas companies and the joint
ventures of Atyrau oblast of Kazakhstan plan to involve 5,300 foreign
workers, including 3,400 workers of high qualification.
Such foreign staff requirements is explained by large amounts of works on
the Tengiz deposit (with the purpose of oil production and clearing increase
to 12 million tons per year), developing of the Caspian shelf deposits and
construction of the Airtau-Novorossyisk oil pipeline.
Now oblast has not enough of own competent personnel. In 2000 oblast's
authorities plan to open regional methodical center on staff preparation and
retraining with an international certificates issue.
The Atyrau administration has addressed to government with the request to
increase quota in 2000 to 5,000 foreign person. Later it is planed to decrease
it to 500-700 persons annually.
