JV Tengizchevroil is ready to export up to 1 mln tons of oil a year to Finland by railroad

/IRBIS, March 2, 00/ - PRIME-TASS informs, with the reference to public relations department of "Kazakhstan temir joly" /Kazakhstan railroads/, that Kazakhstani-American JV TengizChevrOil is ready to ship to Finland up to 1 mln tons of oil a year in case long term contracts will be signed with railroads of Kazakhstan, Russia and Finland. Participants of "Kazakhstan temir joly" and Finland railroads meeting on the development of transit cargo shipments in Europe-Asia direction through Finland in Astana gave this information. Lately, turnover between these two countries decreased three times from 1.5 mln tons down to 500 th. tons because oil supplies from TengizChevrOil to Finland has stopped. Kazakhstani and Finnish counterparts believe the situation may improve if shipments of oil and compressed gas resume from Kazakhstan. It is expected that JV will ship at least 50-60 th. tons of oil a month. In addition, Finland is ready to purchase about 100 th. tons of compressed gas.
