/IRBIS, Feb.25, 00/ - Today the next morning trades in U.S. dollars, Deutsche marks and euros were held at Kazakhstan stock exchange (KASE) with TOD payment terms. 19 banks participated in the trades. Today the Exchange currency market became noticeably alive. The participants were working with all the currencies, and not only with the U.S. dollars. Today the trades in U.S. dollars opened at 140.11 tenge per unit. Total of 62 deals were made. Weighted average dollar exchange rate equaled to 140.12 (+0.06) tenge per unit. The conjuncture of the trades in dollars changed some. The number of participants has grown, and they were active in both selling and buying the American currency. With that the first half of the session was characterized by prevalence of demand over supply (thanks to four major buyers), which caused the exchange rate of the dollar to soar steadily up to the maximum level of the day - 140.20 tenge per unit. The second half of the trade went on under a different conjuncture. Most of the demand has been satisfied already, and the sellers were not able to raise the market anymore. Knowing that the exchange rate reached the top, some dealers began to fix their profits and switched from buying into selling. Supply of dollars topped over the demand and the exchange rate of the dollar fell quickly. By the results of the trade, it can be said today the market did not seem to be balanced at all. Resulting upward trend was absolutely vivid, since the most of the deals were made by the dealers at ever increasing price of USD.
