Kazakhstan is going to invest $650 million in capital development

/IRBIS, Feb.10, 00/ - REUTERS informs about statement of the President of
Kazakhstan at the meeting of the Government. The President insists on
large investments in Astana. Despite of economic difficulties in country, in
2000 it is planned to spend approximately $650 million, the president of
Kazakhstan has informed.
As Nazarbaev has informed, $50 million from $650 million will be invest from
the Astana budget.
"I've agreed with the Arabian countries about a grant on new capital - almost
hundred millions dollars. Including $15 million on Senate building, $15 million
on the building of government, $50 million on other objects. It is the grant,
it not the credit... How I have agreed - is my problem", - has told Nazarbaev.
Yesterday Mazhilis, lower chamber of Parliament, ratified two agreements of
Kazakhstan with Kuwait and Saudi Arabia on receiving of the grants for
construction of Akimat (administration) and Senate buildings. The Kuwaiti
fund of Arabian economic development will grant $10 million, Saudi Arabia -
$15 million.
The buildings will be constructed by Kazakhstan-Arabian joint ventures.
