/IRBIS, Feb.4, 00/ - PRIME-TASS informs, with the reference to the World
bank, that OPEC will ease their own limitations on oil production in March
already.
The oil price, which came close to $30 per barrel on world markets, is
making a political pressure on producing countries not to let the price rise
any more. World bank experts believe OPEC will make a decision to expand
the production at their meeting on March 27.
Representatives of OPEC member countries and Mexico were stating during
last two months that oil production limits would be kept at last year's level.
Norway, which is not OPEC member and is one of the biggest oil producers,
has not made a statement supporting OPEC in shrinking the oil production
yet.
The countries, not the members of OPEC, can use the current situation to
sharply expand their productions, as it may seem after the talks between
Norway and Saudi Arabia. Er-Ryad is worried about losing some key
markets.
