In Kazakhstan volume of January SS placements - KZT4.42 bln or $34.5 mln

/IRBIS, Feb.4, 00/ - REUTERS informs, with the reference to the public relations department of the Ministry of finance, that the Ministry placed state securities denominated in tenge and hard currency for a total of KZT4.42 bln and $34.5 mln at eight auctions. In January four auctions were cancelled due to unsatisfactory price terms. Coupon rate of short term MEKKAM with three months circulation term varied between 15.63-15.71% APR. Yields of six month securities were falling and now at 17.04-17.01% APR. Yields of short term currency debts equaled 9.75%, 9.88% and 10.07% APR for 6, 9, and 12 month papers, respectively. In January turnover of state securities reached KZT59.7 bln tenge, for currency SS it is $367.2 mln. Short term securities accounted for 38.26%, mid term securities - 30.69% and long term - 31.05%. Repayment volume of the securities reached KZT2,045 bln tenge. Two year MEOKAM for KZT20 mln and three month MEIKAM for KZT100 mln were repaid by the schedule. Six month MEKKAM was repaid ahead of schedule at KZT1,925 bln. "Premature repayment of MEKKAM-6 was made to ease the burden on the budget", says the Ministry of finance. The minister of finance Majit Esenbaev said to REUTERS last week the government plans to borrow in domestic market about KZT6.5 bln by issuing securities.
