/IRBIS, Jan.31, 00/ - PRIME-TASS informs, with the reference to a source in
OPEC, that this organization may lift production restrictions and decide to
increase the production in March meeting.
This means OPEC may change its attitude towards keeping production
restrictions. It is believed growing demand and absence of new investments
into this sector may keep the prices up for OPEC to increase the production.
Head of Royal Dutch/Shell Group said in Davos the oil prices would remain
high this year, at $20 per barrel, and they might decrease later in the year or
in next year when oil companies will try to keep up with rising prices.
OPEC will hold a meeting on March 27. Earlier, OPEC was advised to keep
the production restrictions in Vienna.
