The three first question concerning Baku-Tbilisi-Ceihan pipeline are almost solved - Edward Shevarnadze

/IRBIS, Jan.24, 00/ - According to ITAR TASS, which cites the broadcast talk
of Edward Shevarnadze, the three first question concerning Baku-Tbilisi-
Ceihan pipeline, which have been on the Ankara's negotiations agenda, are
almost solved.
As Edward Shevarnadze has noted, the first concerns the ecological safety.
"It has been decided to be guided by the international and european
standards", - the president has noted. Secondly, the Georgia has raised the
question about protection of the Georgia citizens interests through which
lands the pipeline will pass. Also in Ankara the responsibility of Georgia for
the pipeline safety has been discussed.
The president of Georgia has noted that "of course, all the negotiation
participants have their own interests", and has thanked the presidents of
Turkey and Azerbaijan, and USA representatives, which "respected the
Georgia's position and interests".
