At KASE the USD market activity is falling

/IRBIS, Jan.20, 00/ - The morning trades in US dollar, Deutsche mark and Euro were held at Kazakhstan stock exchange (KASE) with TOD payment terms. 12 banks participated in the trades. Today the trades in US dollars opened at 139.46 tenge per unit. Total of 9 deals were made. Weighted average dollar exchange rate equaled to 139.46 (-0.04) tenge per unit. Volume of the session - $420 th. (-$365 th.). Exchange rate fluctuation during the trade - 0.03%. The trades were closed at 139.48/50 tenge per dollar. Activity of the currency dealers are sharply declining at KASE. Turnover of the dollars has also declined out of the Exchange. The market is waiting, and nobody wants to take active steps. Today more than two times decrease in the turnover of the trades was caused by a reduction in the number of active participants. Of all traders, registered in the trade system, only four made the deals. But even they restrained themselves with minimum volumes of operations. Results of the session prove that the banks of the second tier are loosing their interest in buying dollars. Dynamics of the dollar exchange rate was not tendentious during the session. The American currency was traded within 139.45 - 139.49 tenge per unit interval. One hour after closing of the morning session on interbank market of Kazakhstan dollar was quoted at 139.42/46 tenge per unit, two hours later - 139.44/48. In the day session of KASE with TOD payment terms at 1:00PM the dollar was at 139.44/48. Deutsche mark, morning session, TOD: 2 deals, weighted average rate - 72.41 (-0.09) tenge per unit, volume - DEM20 (+15) th. Closing quotations - 72.37/42 tenge for mark. Euro, morning session, TOD: no deals. Closing quotations - 141.05/77 tenge for euro.
