At KASE activity of the dollar market is minimal again

/IRBIS, Dec.27, 99/ - The morning trades in US dollar, Deutsche mark and
Euro were held at Kazakhstan stock exchange (KASE) with TOD payment
terms. 16 banks participated in the trades.
Today the trades in US dollars opened at 138.17 tenge per unit. Total of 18
deals were made. Weighted average dollar exchange rate equaled to 138.03
(-0.04) tenge per unit. Volume of the session - $130 thousand (-$1,715
mln). Exchange rate fluctuation during the trade did not exceed 0.12%. The
trades were closed at 138.04/05 tenge per dollar.
Dealers were not active on today's trades. The participants just "showed up"
on the Exchange.
Except the first deal, which was made at unjustified high rate and was small
in volume of $5 thousand, all operations in dollars were made in last minutes
of the session within 138.01 - 138.03 tenge per unit.
The currency exchange market remains balanced, and "currency finals" of
the year promise to be quite this year.
One hour after closing of the morning session on interbank market of
Kazakhstan dollar was quoted at 138.06/11 tenge per unit, two hours later -
138.04/09.
Deutsche mark, morning session, TOD: no deals. Closing quotations -
71.60/90 tenge for mark.
Euro, morning session, TOD: 1 deal, price - 139.70 (-0.80) tenge per
unit, volume - EUR40 (+35) thousand. Closing quotations - 139.71/80
tenge for euro.
