/IRBIS, Dec.21, 99/ - REUTERS informs, with the reference to the press- release of the World bank (WB), that today WB approved $140 mln loan to Kazakhstan for modification of its electricity supply networks.

"Today World bank approved $140 mln loan to Kazakhstan for financing electricity distribution system restoration project", is said in the press- release.

The project includes such parts as re-equipment of substations, modernization of dispatching control, institutional development and technical support.

The loan was granted for 20 years with 5 year promotional period. Kazakhstan has received about $1.66 bln for 21 projects since it joined World bank in 1992.
