In 2002 the government of Kazakhstan is going to raise GDP growth to 3-4% p.a. and to reduce inflation rate to 4%

/IRBIS, Dec.14, 99/ - According to PRIME-TASS, which cites Zhaksybek Kulekeev, the minister of economy, the government of Kazakhstan is going to raise the annual growth of the gross domestic product to 3-4% and to reduce the inflation rate to 4% in 2002. Zhaksybek Kulekeev introduced the government's program for 2000 - 2002 at the government meeting. He has noted that provision of the stable economic growth at effective tenge rate, low rate of inflation, reduction of the deficit of republican budget and trade balance are the main targets of the government. According to Kulekeev, the program provides decrease of the republican budget deficiency from 3% of GDP in 2000 to 1.2% in 2002 by increase of a profitable part of the budget, and also by reduction of its non-priority expenditures. According to the program, the main directions of the government's activity will be: political stability preservation, national safety strengthening, stable economy formation, real sector of economy development, banking system stability maintenance, and attractive investment climate creation.
