/IRBIS, Dec.06, 99/ - According to REUTERS, at closing of interbank
currency market of Kazakhstan on December 06 tenge quotations towards
US dollar equaled 138.37/47 tenge per dollar.
Compared to the results of the previous day tenge lost 4 points on demand
against US dollar and gained 6 points on supply.
In main (morning) session weighted average rate of the dollar with TOD
terms equaled 138.34 (+0.16) tenge per dollar and closing quotations -
138.32/33.
At closing of additional day session with TOD terms USD was not quoted. At
closing of evening trades with TOM terms dollar was asked for 138.40 tenge
per unit. With SPT terms dollar was not quoted.
Growth rate of the dollar in interbank market was not as high as on Friday.
However, price of an American currency stayed above the weighted average
of the Exchange. It seems as if the market is "looking upward" for sure. This
certainty is backed by spreads, which varied from 2 to 15 points. But, just
like on Friday, the highest values of the spreads were observed in the second
half of the day.
Trades of last days show a final reversal of the trend of the dollar exchnge
rate towards the tenge. Dollar is firming one session after another. Despite
this, the situation in currency market is far from the outrageous state. The
National Bank is stabilizing the situation as needed.
It can be said by the results of the day that dollar will keep firming against
tenge on Tuesday's trades. Devaluation rate of the national currency will
depend on the activity of the participants, but it will hardly increase. Banks
bought a lot of American currency on Monday, but it is quite possible that
Tuesday's market can be sluggish.
